The design process for Yugen Streetwear’s Logo. The Japanese concept of Yugen alludes to a deep and overwhelming sense of the unfathomable reaches of the universe and one’s place within it. It is knowing that there is always something beyond the horizon and that we may never reach it or even know what it is, but also being okay with it.
The concept of the design is to uphold Japanese iconography through the Oni mask, convey a sense of vision and understanding through the wide-open third eye, and also represent the quest for knowledge and seeking new discovery through the looking glass.
